NEWS ABOUT THE DNA TESTING
FOR COBALAMIN MALABSORPTION
To email Zoe Finlay click this link
Zoe has received a message from PennGen saying that there is currently a problem with this
DNA testing and they cannot guarantee that it will be available for the May dates she has suggested.
She will liaise with them regularly up until
the open show/roundup but does not want people paying for taking blood just yet in case it doesn't happen. She has aked that every one is notified not to do anything about taking blood
until she has had confirmation that the test is available.
She will let everyone know if there is a possibility of still doing it or if she has to postpone till later.
Details will be posted here, on the NASA facebook page and in the dog papers when she has any news.
Keep checking back.
UPDATE- 26/7/11
i have just asked PennGenn for an update on the DNA test for Cobalamin Malabsorption. The lab's response was "unfortunately still not but it is our priority". Will keep trying. Maybe one day......Zoe Finlay
UPDATE - 11/8/11
At last some good news from PennGenn ........ Dear Zoe,
we are pleased to inform you that we have been successful in reestablishing the cobalamin assay for Aussies, have reported the test results on previously s_ubmitted samples and are accepting samples now.
If you like to set up a clinic and send them to us this would be fine. Please alert us of any major shipment in advance.
Please otherwise advise people to follow the instructions on the PennGen website.
Thanks for your patience and interest.
Kind regards
Urs Giger
UPDATE - 13/9/11
As you know I am organising a group shipping of blood samples for the
above test to PennGen. We will collect samples at the NASA champ show
on 30 Oct (or they can be posted to me prior to the show). Although we
are not getting any discount on the testing, shipping them in bulk will
make a significant saving.
LATEST NEWS - we now have the possibility of a vet nurse being at the
show to take the bloods at a much reduced cost of £10.00. To secure the
vet nurse I will need know a minimum number in advance.
